Celebration.

"For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation." - Romans 5:6-11

Today (just like every day, really) is a day of celebrating. Celebrating that God loves us enough not to leave us apart from him, drowning in our own hopelessness. Celebrating that death is defeated--sin has no power over us. Celebrating that all the things that are wrong and evil and messed up in this world have been defeated and WILL see justice before God. Celebrating that no matter how worthless or unloved you feel, He loves you enough to die for you. Not you dressed up in your 'Sunday best'--you, with all of your baggage and dirty laundry.

If you aren't a Christian, I hope you don't feel preached-at. Out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks, and my heart is full of this goodness, so much so that I can't help but speak about it. So humor me. :)

I'll end with this song--I've been listening to it all morning. The words are just so victorious. Go listen!

Oh death, where is your sting?
Oh hell, where is your victory?
Oh church, come stand in the light
Our God is not dead
He's alive
He's alive
